A new activity is coming to Lichfield as foot and disc golf courses are created in Beacon Park.
The facilities will follow the route of the 18-hole pitch and putt course, but will see players kick a football into larger holes or throw discs into raised nets.
Cllr Iain Eadie, Cabinet member for leisure at Lichfield District Council, says he hopes the facilities will see even more people using the park.
“Disc and foot golf are two modern games that are really catching on, the world over,” he explained. “We wanted to offer these activities to locals and visitors as they are innovative ways of getting fit and maximise the use of our green space.
“We hope it will encourage more people to use Beacon Park’s golf course, which is not only in a beautiful setting, it is also in the heart of the city and has lots of facilities.”
Both games will be available to try from Saturday (September 2). Each foot or disc golf session, which includes equipment hire, costs £8 for adults and £6 for children.
