A Lichfield woman has moved a step closer to securing her dream diving job after reaching the final shortlist of a competition.
Helen Shepperson, 19, has made it down to the last ten in the Best Dive Job in the World competition and will now fight it out for the top prize until March 15.
The former Friary School pupil is battling it out for a $16,000 PADI Scuba Instructor course in the tropical paradise of Bali.
She told The Lichfield Blog:
“I am really proud to have been selected as a finalist. It’s fantastic to know that all my efforts and the fantastic support from friends, family and even total strangers have been recognised by the panel, and now I stand a really good chance of actually winning this truly life-changing prize.”
As part of the competition, Helen has had to create a video and write a blog post explaining why she deserves the once in a lifetime opportunity.
People have then been voting to decide who will get the chance to earn their diving spurs in some of the finest scuba waters in the world.
Helen added:
“I have worked so hard on this campaign, and I know I would do a brilliant job if I did win. I’ve had a taster of diving and the diving lifestyle and it was absolutely made for me. I can’t wait to get back into it.
“It’s vitally important in these last few days that I finish strong and show what a fantastic following I have. I’d ask that anyone who feels I do deserve this to leave a comment saying so on any of the competition sites. I read – and smile at – every single one.
“It really is quite overwhelming knowing that so many people are wishing you well.”
