A LICHFIELD author says readers will find plenty of local connections in his new book.
David Hobday has written the third in series of tales for young adults set in the fictional town of Greywood.
But those turning the pages might spot a few familiar locations, including a cathedral, a school named after King Edward and a Georgian-era scholar.
His newly-released third book, The Unknown Five, follows on from previous titles Skirting the Rules and The Unteachables.
The former King Edward VI School student said:
"Greywood is very much my love‑letter to Lichfield.
"Anyone who grew up there or lives there now will spot the references instantly.
"The series will certainly resonate with readers who went to King Eddies in the 90s, as I did.
"Although I moved away to go to university, Lichfield is still the place that shaped me and I still have family and friends there.
"It felt natural to build a fictional world inspired by the city I’m so fond of."
David's books follow main character Sebastian Hawthorne and his ensemble of teenage friends as they navigate friendships, school life and the chaos that surrounds both.
Fans will also be able to enjoy further stories on the way.
David added:
"The first three books in the series are available now in paperback and Kindle editions through Amazon, with more books planned for release over the next few months, taking Sebastian and the gang on further adventures and exploring even more of Greywood and its very familiar setting.
