A long-serving Burntwood fitness instructor is hanging up her trainers.

Carol Walker, who has worked for Lichfield District Council for more than 30 years, retired on Wednesday (April 2).
The 71-year-old started as an aerobic instructor in 1984 and has built up a reputation for putting on energetic and fun classes, as well as bringing in record numbers of people to her weekly 50 Plus class at Burntwood Leisure Centre.
Carol said: “It’s the end of an era for me. I will miss everyone and will have quite a hole to fill after so many years on the job.”
Neil Turner, Lichfield District Council’s Director for Leisure and Parks, said: “Carol is a much valued member of the team and will be greatly missed by staff and leisure centre users.
“We wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
