An elderly man has been airlifted to hospital after he was in a collision with a car near Lichfield.
The incident happened at 6pm yesterday (December 12) close to the Co-op in Main Street, Barton-under-Needwood.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, the crew found a nurse was tending to the man who had suffered a potentially serious head injury.
“Due to the condition of the patient, the crew asked if the Staffordshire Police helicopter could be sent to airlift the man to hospital.
“The aircraft was available and met the ambulance crew at the pre-designated landing site at Barton Marina and then airlifted the patient to University Hospital North Staffordshire where medics were on standby for his arrival.”
