Manager Paul Holt has tempered his frustration at Lichfield City FC’s lack of match action by freshening up his squad.
The Brownsfield Park club have not kicked a competitive ball in anger since January 11 thanks to the poor weather, with their last league outing back in December.
Now the fixture schedule has left them with a free week – although Holt is determined to get his players in action.
“It is annoying,” he said. “We are yet to play a league game this year.
“I’m hopeful that we can arrange a friendly for Saturday on a 3G surface just to keep us ticking over.”
But Holt has used the unscheduled winter break effectively, adding two new faces to his side.
Nick Harris has made the switch from Earlswood Town, while Kieron Mortiboys will combine his place at Chasetown FC’s Academy with turning out for Lichfield.
“Nick is versatile and can play left back, left midfield or in the centre. I’m hoping he will bring balance to the side that we perhaps lack.
“Kieron is only 17 but has already had a spell with Rocester in the Midland Football Alliance.
“He can play left, right or down the middle and is an exciting prospect.”
