The new fire station in Lichfield will help crews tackle emergencies and carry out vital prevention work, according to the facility’s manager.
Firefighters have moved into the new Birmingham Road site, which replaced the old 1960s building.
Station manager Tim Hollingworth said the new £3.2million development would help prepare crews for the modern challenges they face.
“This is a very exciting time, both for the firefighters who are based at the station and for members the community, as the ethos behind the new-look facility is to provide a multi-purpose venue with a variety of functions,” he said.
“It will continue to be a response facility where firefighters will turn out from during emergencies as well as providing a base where vital prevention and protection work can be carried out with and for the people of Lichfield.
“There will be the opportunity for community groups to use dedicated rooms, free of charge, to hold their meetings and interact more closely with their local firefighters.”
