LOCAL martial arts students have travelled to London for their latest competition.

MF Team Woollard members Ava Atkinson, Evie Atkinson, Courtney Moulding, Greta McMurray, Emily Bryan, Daniel Harris, Clark Gittings, Alexandru Hriscu, Theo Hiford, Jack Wilkes and Henry de Rouffignac stepped on to the mat at the MF London Championships.

They achieved third place overall in the medal table.

Ava and Alexandru also finished joint top of the individual medal standings.

Instructor Pete Woollard said:

“The medals are amazing and we are incredibly proud of every achievement, but what matters most to us is the personal growth we see in the students.

“Some of these children walked into class lacking confidence, struggling to believe in themselves, nervous to speak in front of others – and now they are stepping onto a competition mat in front of huge crowds with courage and determination. That is the real victory.

“The championships are about building resilience, confidence, discipline, respect, and helping children realise they are capable of far more than they think.

“Every student who stepped onto those mats was already a champion in our eyes.

“To finish third overall as a team was an unbelievable achievement and a testament to the hard work of the students, the support of the families, and the incredible team spirit we have built together.”
