A new plan of action on improvements to services safeguarding children in Lichfield and Burntwood has been published.
The plan is in response to a recent inspection of council, health, police and community services by a team from Ofsted.
In July, inspectors met with a wide range of professionals, parents, carers and young people to make a judgment on local safeguarding and looked after children services.
In the inspection report inspectors confirmed that Staffordshire’s children feel safe. Overall, services were judged as adequate, with some areas that were good or outstanding and others that needed improvement.
Deputy County Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Children and Young People Ian Parry said:
“Keeping Staffordshire’s children safe is a priority not just for the county council, but for all organisations who come into regular contact with our children, young people and their families.
“We were the first county in the country to experience the new inspection of safeguarding and looked after children services. Every organisation involved embraced the process and the action plan now cements a joint commitment to making changes that will enable us to continue to improve the life-chances of Staffordshire’s most vulnerable young people.”
