The developers behind the London 2012 BMX track have been behind the development at Mile Oak Recreation Ground.

The ribbon will be cut at a ceremony on September 8 at 11am before local riders give a demonstration and invite people to try out the new facility. Free bike and helmet loans will be available along with coaching.

Councillor Colin Greatorex said: “We’re delighted to be involved in this project and are looking forward to officially opening the new BMX track this September.

“We hope plenty of riders will join us for the event, as it is a good opportunity to try out the track and to see a master class in BMX riding. A big thank you must go to all the agencies and volunteers that have supported the project.”
