A new campaign will see glow in the dark cards tell Halloween trick or treaters not to knock on doors in Lichfield and Burntwood.
They are part of the Be Aware of Who You Scare initiative which has been launched by a number of organisations.
The cards will be available at various public buildings across Staffordshire, while posters have already been pinned up in youth centres, community buildings, schools and shops to promote the campaign.
Staffordshire County Councillor Robbie Marshall, cabinet member for public health and community safety, said: “Halloween can be a lot of fun but it is vital to remember that some members of the community are not big fans of the festivities.
“Some older or vulnerable residents might find it quite a frightening time and it is up to us to ensure that we don’t make it any harder for them. The glow in the dark card is a great way to keep unwanted trick or treaters at bay. The message is clear with this campaign – be aware of who you scare.”
