New compost bays give a green boost to Beacon Park

Beacon Park is set to get greener thanks to the installation of new composting bays.

They have been put in the corner of the Bunkers Hill woodland near the A51 by Lichfield District Council thanks to Section 106 funding.

The council say the bays will reduce the amount of waste being transported off the site.

Councillor Andy Smith, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure & Parks, said: “Composting on-site has a number of benefits, as it will cut down on our carbon emissions, save money, and give us good quality compost to use across the park.”

Work to install the bays is expected to be completed in February.
