Sea scouts in Mile Oak are close to getting a new home.
Around £55,000 of Section 106 funding was given to the group to create their new headquarters on Manor Road, which will also act as a community centre.
Chris Hollyoake, from Mile Oak Sea Scouts, said: “We’re so grateful to Lichfield District Council for this grant, which has been instrumental in driving this development forward.
“We’ve got a tight budget and community members are coming forward to help us with the painting and other services, so a huge thanks to everyone for their support.”
The money has gone towards installing a new building with windows and doors, toilets, basins and a kitchen sink. The second phase will include painting, electrics, flooring, a new kitchen and heating. This will be followed by the final stage, which includes the driveway and landscaping the grounds.
Work is expected to be completed later this year.
Councillor Ian Pritchard said: “This new facility will provide a valuable space for Scouts and community members to use, and we’re looking forward to its completion.”
