Life under their new management team got off to the perfect start for Lichfield City as they hit seven goals without reply.
The Brownsfield Park side were clearly out to impress Gary Birch and Gavin Hurren as they found their shooting boots against Kidsgrove Athletic Reserves to progress in the Staffs Vase.
The early signs weren’t promising though as the visitors struck the bar when the scores were level.
But a penalty from Dan McLeod soon settled the nerves.
Ahmet Bilgimer had a good chance to extend Lichfield’s lead when he spurned a one-on-one, before Daniel Murdoch showed how it’s done to make it 2-0.
Dan Thurstance went close before Ashley Bennett made it three.
Bilgimer made up for his earlier miss by notching the fourth, with Bennett adding his second to make it 5-0.
Murdoch added another as Lichfield showed their ruthless streak, but there was still time for Mark Rose to round off the scoring.
City’s new management duo will be delighted to get a comprehensive win under their belt, but will want more of the same when they entertain Stafford Town in the league on Wednesday (October 15).
