A new councillor has celebrated her election victory in Lichfield – and promised voters she will be more than just “a name on a slip of paper”.
Sue Arnold was elected in the Mease and Tame ward as the Conservatives secured 46 of the 56 seats on Lichfield District Council.
The businesswoman has resassured voters that the hard work won’t stop now she has won the vote.
Cllr Arnold told The Lichfield Blog:
“I would like to thank everyone who voted for me in the recent elections. The resounding support demonstrated in the polls for my election is a real personal honour and I am looking forward to channeling my energies and bringing a committed work ethic to ensuring I become your community campaigner as I promised in my manifesto.
“I want to hear from residents on the issues and challenges they face and how I can best represent their views at district level. I do not intend to be a name on a slip of paper, I want to be someone who can be recognised and approached.”
Cllr Arnold joins Conservative colleague Cllr Ellen Perkins in representing the Mease and Tame ward after they polled 1008 and 843 votes respectively to defeat Liberal Democrat duo Penny Bennion (313 votes) and Phillip Bennion (338 votes).
