The booklet, created by Visit Lichfield, was unveiled last week and gives hints and tips on for day trippers and people spending longer in the city.

The guide is split into sections, including heritage, culture & tours, fun, fit & active, fine food, stylish shopping, an eventful city, a home from home, a perfect day, meetings & conference venues, and getting here & getting about.

The launch saw Canon Pete Wilcox introduce plans that will see 40 star items from the Staffordshire Hoard displayed in Lichfield, Stafford and Tamworth, as part of Staffordshire Hoard on Tour 2011, which is expected to attract thousands of visitors to the region.

Councillor Louise Flowith, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism, said:

“I am delighted to launch our visitor guide. It is fantastic to see just how much there is to do across the district – from this summer’s Staffordshire Hoard On Tour, to the National Memorial Arboretum, through to the new Ben 10 ride and hotel at Drayton Manor Park.”

The council’s tourism team will distribute more than 80,000 copies of the guide to attractions and tourist information centres all over the country and further afield.

To get a copy visit the Tourist Information Centre in the Lichfield Garrick. For more information log on to www.visitlichfield.co.uk.
