Organisers hope a fundraising dinner will raise £15,000 to help fund a huge lighting and rewiring project at Lichfield Cathedral.
The event, held in the cathedral nave on April 24, will feature a champagne reception followed by a four-course meal, as well as entertainment from The Elmhurst School for Dance and comic-ventriloquist Paul Zerdin.
A charity auction will also take place, with prizes such as lunch at the House of Lords, a private helicopter ride, and a painting by artist John Myatt.
One of the organisers, Tracie Errington, said: “We really wanted to produce a spectacular event at the cathedral, which will raise money and awareness of the historic building.
“A great amount of work has gone into making the Gala Dinner a special and unique experience, and it’s something we hope to do biennially going forward.”
Lichfield Cathedral has already received a grant of £800,000 from government-sponsored scheme, the First World War Centenary Cathedral Repairs Fund.
