Patients in Lichfield have been reassured that care at a local hospital will not be affected by a change of management.

Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is set to take over some of the services at the Samuel Johnson Community Hospital from South Staffordshire PCT.

The switchover is likely to take place by June.

Geraint Griffiths, deputy chief executive of South Staffordshire PCT, said

“Both Trusts are working together to ensure a smooth transfer with no change to the services delivered at Lichfield, and no disruption for patients or staff.”

Helen Ashley, chief executive of Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, added:

“We are committed to ensuring that the high level of services delivered by staff to patients at both hospitals is retained. This is our key message, and we will be running various briefing events in May to share our thoughts and engage with staff and the wider communities.”
