PEOPLE are being asked to volunteer to help make a difference to the lives of youngsters in Lichfield and Burntwood.
The Scouts currently have more than 150 children on the waiting list on the local area.
But the increased demand is unable to be met at present due to a lack of volunteers.
The organisation is now appealing for people to support youngsters in the Scouts movement.
Emily Carter first got involved after helping out occasionally, but says she quickly found it becoming the highlight of her week.
"I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but it’s been brilliant. You make new friends, learn new skills and see young people grow in confidence.
"It’s such a rewarding thing to be part of, and you really feel like you’re making a difference."
James Turner, a parent and volunteer with a local Scout group, said getting involved had been easier than expected.
"I started by helping with simple things like setting up activities or supporting games, but quickly realised how much fun it was.
"It’s flexible, really supportive, and you’re helping young people learn things like teamwork and confidence while enjoying themselves."
Volunteers are being sought to help in a range of roles, both directly in sessions but also behind the scenes. No prior experience with the Scouts is necessary.
