Places for the Ironman 70.3 event taking place around Lichfield and Burntwood sold out in less than a quarter-of-an-hour.
Organisers were swamped with athletes battling to secure a spot for the race, which takes place on June 14 2015.

Competitors will tackle a 1.2 mile swim at Chasewater, followed by a 56 mile bike ride around villages including Kings Bromley, before rounding off with a 13.1 mile half marathon at the Shugborough estate.
Race director Dan James said: “We have had a phenomenal response from the moment we announced 70.3 Staffordshire.
“The venue of Shugborough and the amazing backdrop of Staffordshire offers the perfect setting in every aspect.
“We couldn’t have achieved this without the support of the county who have fully embraced staging such an event and very much look forward to welcoming all of the athletes to this exciting new race next June.”
