A new McDonald’s restaurant in Burntwood has moved a step closer after plans for new signs and car park changes were approved.

The fast-food giant is hoping to redevelopment the former Kwik Save and Tesco site on Cannock Road for the new drive-thru facility.

Among the items approved by Lichfield District Council planners is a 12-metre high ‘totem sign’ and changes to the existing car park and access.

In a statement, the company said: “The intention will be to make minor modifications to access from the roundabout and to include the recently acquired land at the rear of 9 and 9a Cannock Road for use as a car parking area.

“The existing car park does not include designated pedestrian routes. Ther proposal includes clearly defined footpaths, while road crossings are also included.”
