A CHILDREN’S area at a Lichfield city centre venue has been given a revamp.

The space is part of the coffee shop area at The Hub at St Mary’s.

It had previously been filled with toys donated by members of the public – but fundraising and partnerships chief Helen Campbell has secured funding from Staffordshire County Council and Lichfield City Council to give the space a makeover.

The play area has been refreshed with new toys and a collection of books provided through a community pledge led by The Story Nook.

Hayley Gilliam, who designed the space at The Hub, said:

“We really wanted the refurbished area to reflect the creative arts charity that we are, so we are putting a creative slant on what we put in there.

“We’ll have a range of toys to help to develop children’s creativity, from role play to construction and sensory toys.

“It’s ideally aimed at younger children up to five years of age to fill a gap for Lichfield’s young families through the week.”
