Police are set to security mark catalytic converters free of charge in Lichfield.
The event will be held on August 25 between 12pm and 4pm at Tempest Ford on St John Street.
PCSO Brian Harbon said: “There has been a lot of interest in this already and appointments have been booked out.
“However, anyone can come and have a look on the day at what we are doing and then there are plans in the near future to do another day.
“This is an ideal opportunity for motorists, particularly owners of taller vehicles such as 4x4s as the converters are more accessible. Thieves simply cut the catalytic converter from the exhaust pipe of a parked car and sell them on to scrap metal dealers. Once an unmarked converter has been removed it is almost impossible to match to that vehicle.
“The system of marking will not damage your vehicle, but will give you a crime prevention tool to stop your vehicle being attacked.”
