Bikers in Lichfield and Burntwood are being given the chance to improve their riding skills.
The free BikeSafe workshops are being run by Staffordshire Police to try and reduce the number of accidents involving motorbikes on the region’s roads.
Although motorcyclists represent just one per cent of traffic in the county, 21 per cent of those killed or seriously injured are bikers.
PC John Edmondson, from the force’s road crime team, said:
“If we can give a rider just one piece of advice that helps them avoid a collision, then it’s very worthwhile. Just giving two hours of your day may gain you a riding tip that could one day save your life.
“These sessions are open to any rider whether they use a bike for commuting to work or just for recreation at weekends. Anyone interested in attending a session should have a full motorcycle licence, certificate of insurance, the bike is in a roadworthy condition and the rider wears suitable protective equipment.”
The workshops will be held on:
- May 28 at Foley Motorcycles, 67/69 King Street, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 3LZ.
- June 4 at Tamworth Yamaha, Unit Q, Riverside Estate, Atherstone Street, Fazeley, Tamworth, B78 3RW.
- July 2 at CG Chell Motorcycles, 27 Marston Road, Stafford, ST16 3BS.
- July 9 at Suttons Motorcyles, 361 Watling Street, Wilnecote, Tamworth, B77 5AD.
- July 16 at BS Bikes, 653/657 High Street, Sandyford, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, ST6 5PL.
