Officers from Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision that happened on the A51 in Lichfield, near to the junction with Abnalls Lane.
Shortly before 5.20am on Saturday 4 February a white Mercedes Sprinter van was found on its side at the location.
The driver was in the van and was, sadly, pronounced dead at the scene. He has since been formally identified as John Derek Pegg, aged 55, from Leicester.
The road remained closed until around 10am while emergency services dealt with the incident and officers completed an examination of the scene.
