Police have said they are not treating the death of a woman in Lichfield park as suspicious.
But officers are still appealling for witnesses who may have seen the woman prior to her discovery in a pool in Beacon Park yesterday (September 15) morning.
The woman’s identity has not yet been made public, but it has been revealed that she was 69-years-old and from Lichfield.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said:
“CCTV shows the woman walking through Lichfield city centre towards Beacon Park at 9.35pm on Monday. We’re appealing for witnesses who may have seen her there or in Beacon Park on Monday night. She is described as being white, around 5ft tall, with grey hair, a floral skirt and a purple cardigan.
“We’re not treating the death as suspicious, and officers are preparing a report for HM Coroner. Anyone with information should ring Staffordshire Police on 0300 123 4455, quoting incident number 109 of 15 September.”
A section of Beacon Park was cordoned off as specialist officers retrieved the woman’s body from the pool yesterday morning.
