Police set to name and shame Lichfield and Burntwood drink-drivers

Published:

Drink-drivers in Lichfield and Burntwood are being warned they could be named and shamed over the festive period.

Staffordshire Police is continuing its annual drink-drive campaign by publishing the names of more than 20 people across the county who have already been charged since the start of the month.

The force’s Twitter account and Facebook page will give daily updates from today (December 13) until the end of the month.

Chief Inspector Paul Trevor said: “The actions of drink-drivers who risk their own and other people’s lives can end in tragedy for families.

“We hope that this additional consequence will make drivers think before they drink and drive.

“We are conducting road-side stop checks and drivers involved in collisions should expect to be breathalysed. Even the morning after a night out drivers could be still be over the limit. Mistakenly some believe if they have eaten and slept they will be okay to drive.”
