Schoolchildren have joined the chairman of Lichfield District Council to raise a special Armed Forces Day flag in the city.
Students from St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary School helped mark the occassion ahead of the national event on Saturday (June 29).
Cllr David Leytham welcomed the group of ten youngsters to District Council House for a ceremony which saw military veteran Cllr Bernard Derrick salute the flag as it was raised.
“It was an honour to join councils up and down the country to take part in this flag raising ceremony in recognition of Armed Forces Day,” said Cllr Leytham.
“These special flags are a reminder that we must not forget the debt of gratitude we owe to everyone who serves in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.”
