Proposals to freeze allowances for members of Lichfield District Council are to be discussed at a meeting this week.
Cllr Doug Pullen, leader of the council, has put forward the motion.
If approved, it would see councillors annual allowance frozen at £4,214.
It will also mean other additional special responsibility payments to chairs and vice-chairs of committees, as well as members of the council, will also be held at current rates.
Cllr Pullen’s motion says:
“This council acknowledges the extraordinary efforts made by employees of Lichfield District Council in 2020, and notes that many will have their pay frozen in the year 2021-2022.
“In light of this pay freeze, it resolves that all councillor allowances are also frozen until May 2022 at the earliest.”

The motion will be debated tomorrow (15th December).
