People in Lichfield are being invited to a public meeting over plans to close theatres at a local hospital.
Healthwatch Staffordshire is running a public consultation over proposals to axe day surgery at Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital.
An open meeting will take place at the Castle Hotel in Tamworth on October 22, giving people a chance to quiz officials from the Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Clinical Commissioning Group.
The event will run from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, while a series of focus groups will give residents an opportunity to discuss details of the plan – ioncluding one at Lichfield Library from 5pm to 7pm on October 16. The focus group session will be limited to 15 places and anyone who wants to go along is being urged to book their place by calling 0800 051 8371.
Jan Sensier, chief executive of Engaging Communities Staffordshire, which delivers Healthwatch, said: “The local NHS organisations have said they want to listen to the public, so this is the chance for anyone affected the chance to have their say.
“The local NHS organisations do not have all the answers and people might have a better solution. We’re also keen to hear how we could help mitigate the impact the decision might have, so I’d urge people to come along and give us their input.”
The Trust will consider the outcome of the consultation in mid-November and will make a final decision at its board meeting in December.
