Work to repair Lichfield’s multi-storey car park has finally begun.
Shenstone-based Makers Construction has started efforts to repair the Birmingham Road car park’s concrete floor and ceiling slabs, as well s strengthening the columns, waterproofing the top-deck and reinforcing a number of the facades.
Councillor Margaret Stanhope, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Democratic and Legal Services, said:
“I am delighted work has started to repair the Birmingham Road car park. We would once again like to thank city shoppers, traders and our partners for their patience during the unfortunate but necessary closure of the multi storey car park.”
The repairs are expected to be finished in time for the Christmas trading period.
Richard Foggin, managing director of TJ Hughes, which is the nearest neighbour of the multi storey, added:
“We are delighted the repairs are now underway and that the car park will reopen in time for Christmas shopping. The improvements to the layout will mean that the refurbished car park will be even more convenient for TJ Hughes customers.
“We are grateful to all our customers for their continued support and apologise for any inconvenience that the car park closure has caused.”
