Residents are being asked to have their say on plans to increase the number of homes built in Lichfield and Burntwood over the next 15 years.
Lichfield District Council has revised its housing figure, following advice from a planning inspector.
The local authority has already outlined 8,700 new properties, but was told to find at least another 900.
An extra 1,150 have now been included after new sites were identified for:
- 450 homes at Deanslade Farm
- 450 homes at land off Cricket Lane
- an extra 250 homes at the former airfield site in Fradley, taking the total to 1,000
Councillor Ian Pritchard, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Growth & Development, said: “Our growing population must have homes to live in, but where housing should be built is a highly charged issue.
“Following the planning inspector’s recommendation, we have identified what we think are the best locations for new homes to be developed, and we are now keen to hear local views on these proposals. Please take a look at the changes to the Local Plan and make any comments by March 20.”
As well as adding more housing, the council has made a number of other changes to the Local Plan. This includes removing the proposed phasing of housing developments to boost housing supply in the short term, and extending the Local Plan for another year so the framework is in place until 2029.
Local people now have the chance to see the main modifications to the Local Plan – including housing provision – and have their say on them as part of a public consultation that will run from February 6 to 5pm on March 20.
