Community events that celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in rural areas around Lichfield are being offered a share of a £2,300 funding pot.
The money on offer to 11 parish councils is coming from Lichfield Rural East’s county councillor Matthew Ellis, via his Staffordshire Local Community Fund. He said,
“Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is a celebration for the country and our county,” he said. “But times are tough financially and I know parish councils are keen to keep their council tax charges down whilst helping their communities to celebrate the occasion.
“That’s why I’ve written to all 11 parish councils in the Lichfield Rural East area offering a share of the fund I’ve made available based on their populations.”
The closing date for parish councils to apply is March 30 and more information can be be found at www.matthewellis.cc/my-grant-funding.
