THE centenary of Laurel and Hardy will be celebrated in Lichfield.

A new show at The Hub at St Mary’s from Neil Brand explores the pair following restoration of their silent films and the rediscovery of some of their lesser-known works.

It was back in 1926 that Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy signed separate contracts with film mogul Hal Roach. They appeared together in 45 Minutes from Hollywood before going on to become an official comedy partnership that would turn them into global stars.

Currently working on a television documentary and a new book about Laurel and Hardy, Neil is once again sharing his knowledge and expertise.

Anthony Evans, creative director at The Hub at St Mary’s, said:

“Neil is an absolute maestro when it comes to improvising piano accompaniment for silent films so here’s a rare opportunity to experience it first hand.”

Tickets for the show on 9th May are £26 and can be booked at thehubstmarys.co.uk.
