A Whittington hospice has received £3,200 after a donation following the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.
Sponsors helped one of the world’s only remaining steam-powered narrowboats to take part in the historic voyage and raise money for four hospices in Staffordshire – including St Giles Hospice.
The cheques were presented by Ian Dudson, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, after President’s 336-mile journey to London to take part in the event.
Mr Dudson said: “I am delighted that Staffordshire’s involvement in Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Thames River Pageant has also been able to help all the hospices in the county.
“This has been possible through the generosity of our sponsors and the in-kind contributions from many other organisations who contributed to the overall costs”
Emma Hodges, chief executive of St Giles Hospice, added: “It was a privilege to collect a cheque for the care we provide at St Giles Hospice from such a prestigious event.
“Many of our patients staying with us at the time watched the Pageant and celebrated the jubilee with us. Congratulations and thank you to the President team.”
