A team of 20 intrepid trekkers have completed an epic expedition along the Great Wall of China in aid of St Giles Hospice.

The adventurous bunch of walkers spent seven days trekking 45 miles along a stretch of the world-famous landmark, raising thousands of pounds in sponsorship for the Whittington-based charity.

The group were aiming to raise £40,000 for St Giles, and some of the fundraising events they organised included discos, party nights and car washes.

Helen Relihan, Head of Fundraising for the hospice, said: “We would like to thank all of the trekkers for their determination in raising so much money for St Giles – and, of course, for travelling to the other side of the world to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. By all accounts, they all had a fantastic time!”

St Giles supporters can still donate sponsorship money to the group by contacting the fundraising department on 01543 432538.
