Firefighters from Staffordshire will join their colleagues from across the UK as they mark the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral tomorrow (September 11) will also be the 20th anniversary of the Fire Fighters Memorial.
Staffordshire Fire and rescue Service’s Ceremonial Squad consisting of Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford, Chairman of the Fire and Rescue Authority Cllr Len Bloomer and Director of Prevention Dean Stevens will all attend the event. They will be forming a guard of honour with other brigades outside the Cathedral at the start and finish of the service.
The service will be followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Blitz Memorial statue, opposite the Cathedral. During the ceremony the Chief Fire Officer will lay a wreath on behalf of the service and the chairman will lay a wreath on behalf of the Fire and Rescue Authority.
