The colours of the 1st Batallion Staffordshire Regiment have been paraded for the final time before being laid in Lichfield Cathedral.

The 3rd Battalion Mercian Regiment (Staffords) has replaced the Staffordshire Regiment and crowds turned out across Lichfield to see the colours paraded through the city for a final time.
A service in Lichfield Cathedral followed the parade and was attended by a host of dignitaries.
The Bishop of Lichfield, the Rt Revd Jonathan Gledhill, said:
“This is an opportunity for Staffordshire and the Black Country to say we are honoured by the association between the Regiment and this part of the Midlands; we thank you, we are proud of you and we pray for you. This is an emotional moment for some of us, one of several goodbyes to the old Staffordshire regiment over the past years and a saluting of the new Staffords as part of the Mercian Regiment. “
