The Lichfield Blog has been nominated for a Midlands Media Award.
The website’s founder Ross Hawkes has been shortlisted for the Online Journalist of the Year prize for the second year in a row.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Edgbaston Cricket Club on March 10.
Ross said:
“I’m not expecting to win at all, but it’s just nice to see The Lichfield Blog get some recognition. There’s not really an award the site can enter, so being nominated for this award is really about recognising all the hard work that Philip John, Nick Brickett and all of the other contributors put in to make sure we’re able to keep running.
“It’s a real honour to be in the category with some fantastic journalists, including one of our contributors Ben Lowe who has been nominated for his work with Staffordshire University’s StaffsLive website and one of my former bosses Marc Reeves who is doing some wonderful things in his new venture The Business Desk.”
Among the articles that caught the eye of the shortlisting judges were the multimedia coverage of the HS2 protests when Philip Hammond visited Lichfield and the in-depth coverage of Chasetown FC.
