During the past four decades, Doris Smith has held a number of roles in Drayton Manor Theme Park’s hospitality business. She started her career as a glass collector before moving behind the bar to serve drinks. Doris eventually became the Bar Manager before being promoted to her most recent role, Senior Duty Manager.

Family and friends gave Tamworth-resident Doris, a fitting send off with a party, which was held in the park’s Tower Suite and coincided with her 70th birthday.

Doris said:

“While I’m really looking forward to my retirement I can wholeheartedly say that I’m going to miss working alongside all my friends and family at the park. After 43 years it will be strange not being here most days but I’m sure I’ll make regular return visits to catch up with everyone and enjoy the rides!”

Colin Bryan, managing director of Drayton Manor Theme Park, added:

“It has been a pleasure to have Doris at the park for all these years. Everyone will be sad to see her go, but we all wish her the very best for her retirement.”
