Time is running out for Lichfield and Burntwood residents to have their say on the future of libraries in the area.
Staffordshire County Council’s consultation ends on Tuesday (October 7).
More than 2,500 people have already sent in their views, but the authority says hundreds more forms have been handed out.
Cllr Mike Lawrence, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member responsible for libraries, said: “We said at the beginning of this 12 week consultation we wanted to hear from everyone – regular and occasional users, as well as people who hadn’t set foot in a library for years.
“Just by comparing numbers we know there are still several hundred forms out there and we want to hear what everyone has to say.”
Some of the proposals being examined include increased investment in online services.
Cllr Lawrence added: “It’s been pleasing that people have been thinking about what’s being proposed and the implications for now and the future and have been making all sorts of suggestions.
“I’ve been clear from the beginning that this is not a closure programme, nor is it cost driven. We’re saving five per cent from the budget over three years.
“This is entirely about finding ways to take a service suffering from falling numbers in the face of changing social habits and keep it popular and cost-effective to safeguard it for the future.”
