Lichfield children are being given the chance to take part in a treasure hunt in the Leomansley area of the city.
The Welehunt will feature clues at various points to help youngsters collect letters and spell out a phrase.
The hunt will begin at 9.30am on Sunday (August 14) at the Waitrose car park and anyone interested in taking part is asked to book a free place by calling 01785 898532.
Participants will also be given tasks to do and for each one successfully completed, they will receive a star to put on their entry form. All completed entry forms will then be put into a hat and a winner will be picked at random.
A representative from a different organisation including Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Stafford Police, St John’s Ambulance, the 6th Lichfield Scouts and Freedom Cycles will be carrying out demonstrations and passing on safety advice at each clue point.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service watch manager, Al Kimber, who has organised the treasure hunt, said:
“The watch decided to organise the treasure hunt to give something back to the community and to do something a bit different. We’ll be attending as well to talk to the kids and adults and Welephant will also be around, helping children with their clues and posing for photographs.
“The day is going to be a lot of fun for children and will also give the Fire Service and other partner agencies the opportunity to pass on essential safety advice to both the children and the adults participating.”
Waitrose will also be providing a free healthy lunch for participating children and a cash prize is on offer to the person whose completed form is pulled out of the hat.
Entry to the treasure hunt is free of charge and is open to children up to the age of 14. All participants must be accompanied by an adult and priority will be given to children who have booked a place. To be eligible for the prize, entry forms must be fully completed with the phrase and all task stars. Adults are allowed to help children with the tasks and clues.
