Two injured after horsebox lorry overturns near Lichfield

A woman and teenage girl have been taken to hospital after their horsebox lorry overturned near Lichfield.

The incident happened on Wood Lane in Yoxall just after 4.10pm this afternoon (March 4).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Ambulance crews were called to a horsebox lorry that had overturned, blocking the road and causing damage to a nearby cottage.

“The driver of the horsebox, a woman in her thirties suffered a minor head injury. A teenage passenger was thrown clear of the lorry and sustained bruising and lacerations to her back. She was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board as a precaution.

“Both patients were taken by land ambulance to Burton Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

“The horse was recovered from the lorry and appeared uninjured. The owners of the cottage were also assessed by ambulance staff but did not require further hospital treatment.”
