Two taken to hospital after crash in Lichfield

Two people have been taken to hospital after a car and a van crashed in Lichfield.

The accident happened at the junction of the A515 and the A51 at around 8:15am yesterday morning (September 11).

Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said:

“On arrival, the crews saw a car and a van that had been in collision. The driver of the car, an elderly woman was treated at the scene for multiple injuries. She was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board before being airlifted to a specialist trauma centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

“The driver of the van, a man, had suffered a chest injury. He was treated at the scene and taken to Stafford Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
