A NUMBER of vehicles have been seized after an operation targeting dangerous driving in Lichfield city centre.
Lichfield District Council, Staffordshire Police and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency carried out checks as part of the operation at Cross Keys and Lichfield Bus Station
One car was taken off the road for having no tax or insurance, while another was seized due to the driver not having a licence or insurance.
A man was also arrested after it was found a warrant had been issued.
Other drivers were made had to remove illegal tinted windows, while an off-road motorcycle was found to be unroadworthy and could not be ridden.
Four immediate prohibition notices were issued on vehicles where tyre tread was below the legal limit, while another was issued for inoperative power steering.
Four penalty charge notices were also issued for parking offences during the operation.
Cllr Richard Cox, Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for community engagement, said:
“I want to thank our officers and all the partners involved in this important operation.
“Ensuring the safety of Lichfield district’s residents and visitors is a top priority. Antisocial behaviour and the use of unsafe vehicles will not be tolerated.”
