People in Lichfield are being asked to help create a living memorial to the First World War.
A poppy field is being created in Beacon Park to mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the conflict.
Volunteers are needed to prepare the ground and sow seeds between 10.30am and 3pm on Saturday (March 8).
Councillor Andrew Smith said: “A field of poppies is such a fitting way to pay tribute to the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
“It will be a stunning addition to Beacon Park, and I am sure plenty of people will join in the event.”
The poppy field will be created towards the northern end of a stretch of grass just beyond the golf course in Beacon Park. Volunteers are asked to wear appropriate clothing and gardening gloves. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
