Thirteen workers from the Lichfield-based Central England Co-operative visited the Alrewas centre to help clear weeds, cut grass and plants at the Burma Star Association’s memorial.

Jo Baldock, who was part of volunteering group, said: “We wanted to enhance the grounds at the National Memorial Arboretum as they rely on volunteers to support the upkeep.

“The weather was good – only a little bit of rain – and we managed to fill an entire skip full of items we had cleared away.”
