PEOPLE can get their hands on a bargain bike thanks to a local voluntary group.
Lichfield Re:Cycled sees bicycles donated to the Curborough Community Centre organisation given a makeover before being made available on a free long-term loan.
But the group’s volunteers are now offering some for sale.
A spokesperson said:
“Our model has always been to give local people access to a free bike on loan. We find the right bike to suit their size, their confidence and what they would use the bike for.
“When they have finished with the bike, we ask them to simply return it to us. We take referrals and requests and operate a waiting list.
“But at the moment we have a surplus of completed bikes so we will be offering some for sale for a donation of between £10 and £60 – or higher if it is a more valuable bike.”

The group is also on the lookout for new volunteers to join the group, which meets on Wednesday mornings at the centre to refurbish and service donated bicycles at a purpose-built workshop.
The spokesperson added:
“New volunteers are welcome if they might be able to join us on a Wednesday morning – and there is the opportunity to work on bikes from home.
