LICHFIELD City found some much-needed confidence and points as they ran out 3-0 winners at Wythenshawe.
The visitors had found themselves under pressure early on as Ashley Leather's cross found Darius Palma, but he could only steer the header wide.
Leather himself went close for Wythenshawe on the quarter of an hour mark as he jinked past a defender before seeing his effort on goal deflected over.
They went even closer just before the break as Callum Leigh's effort was just off target.
But after defending stoutly in the first half, City began the second period brightly and found themselves in front just three minutes after the restart as Owen Watkins sent Jamie Spiers away and he made no mistake with a finish past home keeper Ryan Forde.
Prince Anuniru sent a shot over the top as Wythenshawe tried to hit back.
City showed a new-found stubbornness to keep the hosts at bay – and then doubled their lead with 20 minutes left when Ethan Muckley won the race to get on the end of a through ball and lift the ball over Forde.
The win – only Lichfield's second of the season in the Northern Premier League West – was wrapped up in stoppage time when Matthew Barnes-Homer nodded the ball on for Isaac Smart who picked out Muckley to net his second of the afternoon.
