THE interim chief executive officer of a local education trust is stepping down.

Lee Miller MBE took up the role with the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP) following the departure of previous incumbent Richard Gill CBE in the wake of strike action by teachers.

The troubled trust is also set to see its schools transfer to new operators in the near future.

A spokesperson said:

"After joining the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership in January, Lee Miller MBE will step down as interim chief executive officer at the end of October to take up the full-time role of chief executive officer at The Thinking Schools Academy Trust, where he has worked for the past 12 years.

"The board would like to thank Lee for his tireless work over the past ten months and wish him every success for the future.

"From November, David McVean, ATLP’s interim chief operating officer and former vice-chair of the board will take on the role of interim chief executive officer.

"Having worked closely with Lee throughout this year, David brings a strong understanding of ATLP’s schools and communities, alongside extensive experience leading multi-academy trusts and colleges.

"Our focus remains ensuring every student continues to receive the best possible education. David will work closely with our school leaders and staff to ensure our schools remain well supported and focused on the needs of students and families as they prepare to join new trusts."
